More asian cards

We had such a wonderful showing and a great time in our first asian class.. we are gearing up for our second class for February.  There are still some openings for next month, I hope you can join us!  We have room in our Saturday Feb 16th from 6-8pm and Monday Feb. 18th from 6-8pm cost is 35.00 and you'll bring home 6 fabulous cards.  Here are two.  I still need to design 4 more!!!!

Paper_garden_samples_1252008_003 This is a design using your scraps from designer papers.  I used Hero arts new bamboo stamps and used the color box chalk cat eyes and inked different colors of green and stamped it on cream paper, then punched just a small piece out... then layered with different green tones.  Super fast and easy!

Paper_garden_samples_1252008_002 This next card is a card/invite that my husband made.. YES....my hubby!!!!!!!  Kenneth Richard Yee made this!!  Can you believe.  It's really nice.  It's a chinese traditional dress called a "cheongsam".  I take absolutely no credit in this card.  He did a great job... clap, clap, clap.  So now you can make one too!!!

He used judikins cherry blossom stamp and embossed in black diamond powder.  Then used a judikins chop stamp and embossed in gold and punched out the circle.  The ribbons have a metallic gold in it and really brings out the colors.  This is a great card for a invitation or greeting!  I'll have the rest of the card posted soon.. and I hope to take pix of the inside of my boutique as well as our Valentine windows.  My cousin Laurie helped me decorate them...turned out sooooo cute!

Rain, Rain, go away!

We've had so much rain in Sacramento, it's been crazy outside.  I guess it keeps us indoors tho to do more stamping!  We've been personally hit hard by the rain, we had three leaks in our roof and our phone lines have been affected by the moisture.  For some reason, our phone system is having hang up woes, the moisture is keeping the phone line from hanging up and we can't use our credit card machine!!  ARGHHHHH.. I hope my landlords can fix the issue.  Anyway, enough about that.. here's some card ideas to inspire you to stamp while you are indoors cuddled up with a nice fire or something right???

Paper_garden_samples_1252008_001_3 Here's a stationery idea that I made for our spring card making class.

It's just a square card 4.25 X 4.25 and I scalloped the edge on one side and cut a 4.25 X 2" piece of green cardstock and scalloped one edge of that.

Then I used foam tape on the bottom and two sides to make a raised pocket so I can add stationery to the inside.

Paper_garden_samples_1252008_008

I used different spring like images and words to go with the stationery.  The stamps are from a muse, memory box co, outlines rubber  stamps, and rubbermoon.

Sympathy card

Sympathy cards are my least favorite to make, but lately, it seems like I've been having to send them out.  In our last super simple card class, we made this leaf card.  To me the colors are earthy and solemn.  But I also like the fact that in a way it represents life... celebrating life that is...

Sympathy_leaf the stamp of this fern leaf is made by b-line designs and the sentiment by woodsworth.

I stamped the leaf on the edges with creamy brown and then stippled it in chestnut roan.  I then stamped the leaf again in dark brown and olive pastel and stippled again on the cream inner paper.  I really like ribbon... a lot!!  I used some may arts ribbon and tied it around the card.

Our three asian card classes were sold out this month and we have openings for our next card class.  If you want to take it, you should sign up now.. there's still some space but it's going fast!   I'm working on the cards now and will hopefully post what I made tomorrow night.  I also will have my husband take some pictures of our cute Valentine windows and new ribbon rack!

If you're an Elzybells and A muse art stamps fan like me, we are expecting our big shipment on Monday as well.  Check it out!  We'll have a lot of great stuff coming in this week!

Spring cards

With all of the rain and wind we've been getting in Sacramento, I was thinking--SPRING, and we have a spring card class coming up.  We have a class on Friday, January 25th from 10am-12pm and 6pm-8pm and on Thursday, February 28th from 10am-12pm cost is $35.  We'll make a total of 6 cards --here's some of the cards we'll be making--

Birdspring  The first are a pair of fun bird stamps by just johanna.  I stamped it randomly in versafine olive ink and the flower is by hero arts.  I stamped that in pink pastel and added gemstones by doodlebug.  I love birds!

Spring2 This next card is a dragonfly card and I used designer papers and just cut them up and made a simple card using pinks and creams!

Dragonfly are from stampendous and outlines.

Spring3 I love this next card, it's using some new stamps by outlines rubber stamps.

I stamped one flower in moonlight white on black paper and then lined a 1.5" piece of designer paper and used more layering to stamp a polka dot flower.  So fresh and simple!  Birthday sentiment is by savvy stamps.  Small flower is by rubbersoul.

Spring4 This next card is my favoite.  Another bird by judikins.  I stamped a crown by the cat's pajama's and cut it out and raised it with foam tape.  I then layered some designer paper and stippled the background with blues and browns.

ButterflyThis last card is a butterfly card and fitting for spring.  The stamp is by stampendous and the sentiment is by memory box.

Chinese New Year!

My husband is Chinese, so we get to celebrate the year of the rat come February.  Our son is a Rooster, I am a Monkey and my husband is a Dragon.  Do you know what your Lunar zodiac sign is?   One of my favorites foods besides sushi is dim sum.  Today, we took my sister Allison, her husband Dave and daughter Sarah to the airport... they moved to Japan and will stay there for about 3 years.  It was a pretty emotional trip to SFO.  I cried like a baby when we said goodbye.  After, my family, my parents and my husband's sister and her husband met at Yank Sing at the Rincon Center for Dim Sum in S.F.  It's the best ever dim sum.  I ate like a pig!!  It was delicious!

In honor of Chinese New Year's my mother in law makes a wonderful dinner for our family (she's an awesome cook!) and my husband's side also meets for a fun gathering.  My husband's family is super close and we get together often for dinners and holidays.  It's really fun especially because everyone makes me feel like family...even tho I'm the outcast!  So here's the last of the asian cards for the asian January class.  There's no rat stamps that I could fine...so I made a dragon card.. my husband says dragon's are year round for chinese culture.. so I made this one.

Asian6

I used gold stardream paper and stamped the balls of fire in color box chalk warm red.  Then I used the kodomo inc. dragon set and stamped it in enfore gold and embossed the image in gold powder.  The happy new year sentiment is by a muse art stamps.

Asian cards part 1

One of our most popular classes this past winter was our asian card classes.  We were filled, so this year, I've decided to have three asian classes-- all different cards.  If you take all three classes, you'll get 10-dollars off and come home with a total of 18 beautiful works of art!  Here's the first round of 6!

Asian1 This first card I made with the spring collection of stamps from Kodomo inc.  I stamped first in wisteria color box chalk inks and then in black with versafine onyx ink.  Asian cards have a lot of layering and this one is no exception.  My poor husband.. he cut out all of the pieces for the upcoming classes.. he was cutting and cutting and cutting.. probably cursing me too!!  HAAHAHAHAHAHAA!

Asian2 This next card is a great card for Valentine's too.  All stamps are by a muse art stamps.  I love their new sentiment.. wishing you luck and good fortune.  It's also fitting for Chinese New Year's which falls in February!

Asian3 This next card is using the Andy Warhol's modern technique of color.  It's really simple and it would be a great gift to give to your artsy friends who want some stationery.  Everyone love's Warhol.. and you can be an andy-wannabe making this card!  Sentiment is by a muse and the lantern's are by american art stamp.

Asian4 This next card is a birthday card using images by Hanko designs.  Again, just layering and using a lot of vibrant reds, blacks and whites!

Asian5 Here's another birthday card using some whimsical stamps by kodomo.  I used a lot of cherry blossoms and asian flourish to border around a birthday cake.   A chocolate birthday cake, only the best!

Cake stamp is by a muse and happy birthday calligraphy font is by Savvy stamps.

I have another asian card, I'll post is later this week.

If you're interested in taking any the asian card class.  We have one on Friday, January 18th 10am-12pm ,

and the class is repeated on Saturday, January 19th 6-8pm and on Monday, January 21st from 10am-12pm, cost is $35.00.

Hope to see you in our class!

Happy 2008!

Happy new year!  I finally made some cards this past week-- we're gearing up for three card classes coming up!  I hope you had a nice holiday.  Miles got too many toys.  Our house looks like toys r us.. or the island of Sodor with all of his Thomas trains.  Now, my son is really into "CARS" the movie, so we watch it over and over and over again.  I think I know all of the characters names... scary!

Here's are some fun Valentine's treats you can make for your kids' classrooms or workfriends.  It's really easy.  It's using the Marvy blue scallop circle and yellow circle punches or using the blue and yellow heart punches and sandwich-ing in a mini york peppermint patty.  My girlfriend Kathy Kilbane and I designed these and colored in the little characters in a matter of minutes.  This is what they look like on the front side.... images are all by a muse art stamps and memory box co.

Heart3

Heart4

this is what they look like on the back side.  All sentiments are by a muse art stamps and memory box co.

You can also use the pink and blue square punches to make other

favors.  Here, I used ghiradelli square chocolates.  This is the front side.

Heart5

Heart6 and this is the back side.  So cute!

We also have a Valentine card class and still have a lot openings.  Here's a sneak peak at some of the fun cards we'll be making.

Heart1 The first is using our ek success daisy punch.  I just puinched out enough to spell LOVE and used fruit punch stickles glitter glue in the middle.

This next card is Heart2a great girls night out card or a Valentine to a girlfriend.  This martini is a new stamp by impression obsession.  It's a valentine martini with a bow and arrow and on the side is a mini cupcake with floating hearts in the drink.  It's soooooo cute!

I then took a heart punch and stamped love blooms by a muse art stamps.  By using stickles and prisma glitter you can really make this card bling!

Enjoy!

Don't forget our Valentine classes are Friday, January 11th from 6-8pm and Sunday January 13th from 5pm-7pm -- it's $35.00 for the class and you'll bring home 6 complete cards!
