Make and Take Friday!

Springc Come to our make and take -- Friday 11:30am-1:30pm and make something sweet and fun!

We had a spring card class today and here's some of the cards that we did.  This card is made with ric rac ribbon and lots of punches.  I used the circle scallop punch by Marvy, ek success leaf punch and small daisy punch by Marvy.  The inside of the flower is by A Muse and the sentiment is by savvy stamps.  Tip:  If you roll your punches in your ink pads, you can get a really cool dimension of color on your cardstock.  I tend to roll a lot of pieces in ink!

Springa_2

This card was made with light blue stardream paper cut at 4" X 9"... and folded.

The flower stamps are impress, memory box and rubber soul and sentiment by A Muse.  The ink pads are paper salon spa, color box chalk ice blue and versafine green. I then used white liquid pearls to embellish the card.  It's so springy!

Springb

This next card is made with stamps from Hero arts.  The cherry blossom is stamped in dark peony color box chalk and then I stamped it again on another piece of white cardstock in tangerine and punched out the cented and put foam tape to raise it.  I then stamped the butterfly in lime pastel and stamped it again on white cardstock and just cut out the butterfly and stuck it on top.  The sentiment is by A Muse and the flower stem is a flourish by memory box.  I put a gemstone in the center of the flower to make it shimmer.

Springd This last card is really simple.  I used the memory box leaf stamp and flowers and stamped randomly.  Sentiment is by A Muse and I used our new scalloped corner rounder to make a tag like sentiment.  I love this new corner rounder.  If you ever feel like your card is too plain.. just add ribbon, glitter, gemstones or a small splash of another piece of cardstock and you'll see a big difference!

Easter Inspiration

Today was the first day I noticed the days are getting longer!!  I love it!  It felt like spring today and so here's a little Easter inspiration.  Come to the Paper Garden from 11:30am-1:30pm this Friday (every last Friday of the month, we have a free make and take) and create this for free.  I got the box template from this website: http://artfulavocations.typepad.com/artful_avocations/2008/02/pretty-little-1.html

I filled it with jelly beans and also chocolate eggs

Basket2 I decorated the boxes with stamps from A muse and the ribbons are also from A muse.

This is the backside...

Basket3 This is the frontside.  My husband forgot to take a pix of the frontside of the far right box.. oh well.. there's a cute bunny on it.  But here's the new spring elzybells stamp on the second box.  I punched out two oval shapes and attached them onto the sides of the box.  So fun!  Please come Tuesday for a template and a free take home box!

OK...So on the second Saturday of each month, we have another make and take from 11:30am-1:30pm.. here's what you can make March 8th!

Pouch1 I created this one myself!  Hope you like it.  It's a 4.25 X 4.25 square patterned notecard from A muse and just added some green cardstock and fringed it to look like grass.  I then attached two strips of puffy tape to the sides and dropped in a clear bag of jellybeans.  The topper was made from the Giga scallop oval marvy punch and I scored it in half and tied ribbon to it.

All stamps and ribbon are from A muse, Jellybeans are the Starburst jellybeans.. have you ever had those?  yummy!!!!!!

Here's a picture of the candy outside of the pouch

Pouch2 I punched our new Rabbit punch and put a black dot for the bunny's eye and stuck a glue dot to seal it on the bag.  This is so easy!  Hope you can join us for our second Saturday as well...

Don't forget, there's yet another make and take on Tueseday, March 4th from 11:30am-1:30pm..I'll post what we'll be doing as soon as I come up with something tasty.  Easter is all about chocolate bunnies and jelly beans.. so we'll do something sweet and fun!  Stay tuned.....

Spring Cards

We have a spring card class on Thursday, February 28th from 10am -12pm.  We hope you can join us.  We'll make six cards, however, so far.. I only made two!!  I will get on it!

Spring_1 This first card is made with ek success flower punches.  There are three sizes and I just stacked them up and then put a pink gemstone in the middle.  I used two separate flourish stamps by memory box and the sentiment happy spring is by a muse art stamps.

We got a new tool in our store it's a marvy paper trimmer and you can use 8 different blades to make a pinking shear look, a wave, scallop.. it's so fun.  I can't use those scissors with the funky edge blades.. my cards will look like rejects.

Spring2 This next card is one of my favorites.  I used the scallop edge blade from our new paper trimmer and just did some layering and stamped a floral cluster by rubbermoon all over and the pots of flowers by memory box.

I then used white liquid pearls on the top of the card.  Also, look closely at the polka dots all over the flowers and the table.  I used the uniball white pen.  We have a ton of them in stock right now at the store.  It's the best ever pen and looks even better on chocolate or black papers.  If you ever wanted a nice writing pen in white..it's this one.  In fact, they don't even manufacture it in the U.S...it comes all the way from Japan.

Anyway.. there's nothing like this pen.. really!!  Come by and try it out.

My cousin Laurie and I spent most of the day changing out our windows from Valentine's to Spring.  I will have to have my husband take pix.  We have two big windows at the store and we did a birthday party window (Laurie's idea.. so cute!) and I made some cute party hats from our papers on the wall.  In the other window, it's like a egg hunt.. I made about 30 giant pinwheels from the papers on our wall..it's soooooo cute.  Very spring.. I am just waiting for the sun to shine!

CHA!

I just got back from the Craft Hobby Association convention in Anaheim and I burned another hole in my credit card!  There was so much to see and buy I was a kid in a candy store!  Lots of cool stuff.  Can't wait to show you all when it arrives.

I have some pix that I hope to post this week.  We'll have our exciting and much talked about asian card classes this week... and I finally have the last of the cards to show you that we'll be making.

Asian_1 This card was made using a twig (a reed) and I punched a hole and tied some string to hold it.

I then stamped a Judikins bamboo image all over in olive pastel and cut some mustard and yellow paper in squares.  Finally, I used pewter brads to give the design some texture.

It would make a nice invitation as well!

Asian_2

This next card I used brads as well and I stamped an asian saying (uhhhhhh.. not sure what it says....you won a million dollars?)

I then stamped B-line designs in black on robin's egg blue cardstock and then again on some vellum and I tore it.  Pretty cool huh?

It's a really quick card and I put a celebration symbol by Hanko on the bottom of the card.

Asian_3 This next card is another laying technique, I just cut out some squares and edged the corners in black and then stamped several asian designs onto the cards and raised them.

And of course, using ribbon, it really makes your card look classy!

All stamps are by Hanko, Judikins and Savvy stamps.

Asian_3a

This last card is one of my favorites.  It's a gate fold and you can use it as an invitation as well.  With spring in the air (well, right now in California it's spring.. I love it!!) I thought of butterflys and used Hanko's butterfly background and then stamped it again and punched out a small circle.  I lined the gate fold with Washi decorative paper and

when you open the doors.

Asian_3b I used my scrap from the same washi paper and punched out a butterfly with the ek success butterfly punch.  It's a fun and easy card!  hope you can join us for our fun asian 2 class!!!

Valentine treats

We have a make and take on Saturday from 11:30am-1:30pm!!  Please come and have fun decorating chocolate heart shaped candies and decorating heart shaped suckers!  We also had a make and take on Tuesday and this is what we made.

Pencil_holder_1 It's a pencil holder.  Using the purple, pink and blue scallop circle punches, I used glue dots to secure the pencils onto the cardstock.  My girlfriend Snowda told me it would be a great chopstick holder too!  What an awesome idea!

It's perfect for Valentine's day to give to students especially if parent's don't want to give sugar to their friends.

Pencil_holder_2 I used a muse art stamps little dolly girl, a heart background and in this picture a muse art stamps heart gift.  This is what the pencil holder looks on the backside.

Pencil_holder_3

You can stamp any sentiment you'd like.  This is by savvy stamps.
