Make and Take Tuesday

Hi everyone, we have a lot of exciting events happening at the Paper Garden for the month of April.  We're so happy to have Linda Carnell owner and lead designer for A Muse art stamps teach classes on April 13th and 14th, we still have some openings so please call the store if you're interested at 916-487-2737!

Also, we have a make and take on Tuesday from 11:30am-1:30pm... I still have to figure out what we'll be making!!!  Speaking of make and takes, every Saturday from 11am-2pm we have free make and takes that will be geared for brides!  Please come by and see all of our cool ideas!!  We welcome anyone, you can also use these ideas for birthday parties as well as any kind of celebration.

Here's two of six cards that I made for the upcoming asian card class-- have you signed up yet?  We hope to see you soon.

Cherry_blossom_pocket_fold This is a fun pocketfold that is just a half of an 8.5 X 11 cut the long way.  I stamped celebrate from the cat's pajama's and then stamped the impress branch with impress cherry blossoms in pink and orchid pastel.  I then scallop the edge with the marvy paper trimmer using the scalloped edge(love this tool!!!) and used doubled sided ribbon to tie it together.  With this invitation you don't need any kind of hole punch, the ribbon will hold the pocket together.

Cherryblossom_2 This is a show of the inside of the pocket fold invitation.  I used the date, time place stamp by impress.  It's very versatile, you can use this for any kind of celebration!

Asian_butterfly This next card is using the asian background newspaper stamp by Judikins.

I just used a portion of the stamp and then stamped this sketch butterfly onto cardstock by rubbermoon and then stamped it again on washi paper and cut it out and then raised it.

I then took a piece of black cardstock and stamped it onto a black piece of paper with brilliance moonlight white and used the yellow scallop circle marvy punch and stamped "best wishes" (it fits inside there really well!)

Rainbow_flower_card This last card is not for the asian class, it's just one I made for the super simple card class.  I stamped a stampendous flower in color box chalk tangerine and pastel pink all over and used doodlebug gemstones to go in the middle.  I then used a small tag punch and stamped with love by memory box and adhered it to ribbon.  So simple!

Asian card class

Img_9974 Img_9982 I burned the midnight oil yesterday and finally made our class samples for this week's asian card class!  Here they are-- all 6 cards!  Hope you like them.

This first card is made with stamps from Hanko.  I used their cherry blossom background stamp and then stamped their cherry blossom thank you and layered it.  I used peach and cream and green colors to make it springy.

This next card is made with the new cherry blossom stamp from hero arts.  I used spring colors to brighten up the card and used some pretty ribbon.

Img_9970 This next card is made with the new asian clear stamp set by A Muse.  I stamped the cherry blossom tree on the ek success oval, marvy round and oval punches and cut off the bottom and top of the shapes and then pasted a black piece of paper in the back and used some gold glitter glue to pose as the string.  I then scalloped an edge of cherry blossom pink paper and stamped the sentiment arigato (thank you in japanese).  So pretty!

Img_9971

This next card is a window card of a Geisha woman with cherry blossom trees. The stamp set is by Kodomo and I used the bamboo by Judikins as a background.

The cherry blossom punch is by ek success.

Img_9972 This next card is my fav.  It's our new cherry blossom stamp by impression obsession.  If you like this set.. get it now!  We only have 5 left.  It's actually two separate stamps.. a bold and an outline image.

I first stamped it in dark brown and then stamped it again using marvy pens and stamped it on top of the branch.

The scalloped edge on the bottom was used with our new Marvy paper trimmer.. i also love this new tool.  So portable.  It comes with 7 different blades and this was the scalloped edge.  The hi friend is by A Muse and i stamped it on top of our mini tag punch tied some ribbon and a beautiful square card.  I think it would be pretty as an invitation.

Img_9973 This next card is a new clear stamp set by kodomo using their new ink pads!  It's called Ikebana.  It's the art of beautiful floral arrangements.  Kodomo has 8 new ink pads that are rainbow and when you use your stamps it comes out in this effect.  It's really cool.  Again, I used the marvy paper trimmer to make the scallop edging, it's like a window awning card.

Hope you like the new cards.  Our class is full for Friday evening , we added a class for Saturday from 6pm-8pm with 3 slots left.  If you would like to take the class please call the store!  Hope to see you soon.

It's Spring!

My cousin Laurie and I finished decorating our windows the day after Valentine's day and finally we're able to show you some pictures!  Laurie wanted to make a birthday window and I said sure.  So I made some party hats and she did the rest of the decorating.  It's so fun.

Window1 This is a side view of the windows.. I made a bouquet of paper flowers and we used our ek success butterfly punch and punched out a bunch to decorate.

We have a lot of fun kids toys and games and books and put them in the window as presents.

Window2 This is the birthday party scene.  I just folded some cardstock paper and made fun party hats and used the ek success large daisy punch to make the hat topper.  See the cute vintage stuffed animals?  I love these.. they look warn out and rugged.. the more rugged.. the cuter!!!  My son Miles has a nice collection of these handmade stuffed animals from France.  They are a big pricey at 65-bucks.. but they are Euro and they are so cute and cuddly and wash really well!

Window3 We have two big windows at our outdoor shopping complex.  This next picture shows a more springtime window.  To the left are gigantic pinwheels that I made out of 12 X 12 papers and 20 X 20 papers.. so fun.  My husband couldn't get a clear enough pix with the sun glaring today, so we'll try and post one up soon.  But here's a good picture of our bla bla dolls in a springtime basket.

We have eggs and and apothecary jars filled with candy and jelly beans to hold the pinwheels.

Baby_shaker By the way, here's a card I made awhile back.  It's a shaker card.. and all you have to do is first punch out a scallop square using your blue marvy punch.. then take your purple scallop punch and line it up so it nests into your first punch.. then cut a piece of acetate paper and line it on the edge of your big scallop square punch.

I then took another piece of cardstock and stamped the baby onto it and punched out a bunch of pink hearts with the handheld fiskars heart punch.  To adhere the two pieces, i used foam tape to lift the pieces up so that the hearts to jump around.

All stamp by savvy stamps.

St_pat For the last card of the evening.. here's a St. Patrick's day card.  I punched out three scalloped hearts with the blue marvy punch and scored them in half.  I then took stickles lime green glitter glue and made a stem and outlined the hearts.  Do you see the polka dots in white? That was used with the uniball white pen.  We still have some in stock.  Again.. it's the best white pen ever.. if you use this pen.. you won't ever go back to another white pen again!!!  It even dries nicely on stardream paper!

Sentiment is by A Muse art stamps.

Spring is near!

We have our April, May and June 2008 newsletter up on our website.  Check it out.

www.papergardenboutique.com

We have a lot of fun classes!  Also, our special guest instructor Linda Carnell from A Muse art stamps will be teaching classes in April.  Please call us or visit the store as soon as possible, her spots for class are filling up fast.. seriously!  We are already sold out of the Think Simple, Think A Muse class for Sunday, April 13th 1:00pm-3:00pm,  but Linda has been so gracious to add another Think Simple, Think A muse class Sunday, April 13th 6:30pm-8:30pm.  If you are interested, please let us know real soon!

Here's a card I made for our cupcake class.

It's so simple, I couldn't believe I didn't think of this earlier.  I used our new Marvy paper trimer and used the pinking shear edge to create the "cup" and cut it at an angle-- have you tried our new paper trimmer?  I love how portable it is.. come to the store and try it out. Cupcake There's a total of 8 different edges!

I then took our blue circle Marvy punch and punched out the blue circle and taped it to the cup... and put a doodlebug gemstone right on top.  The final touches were to outline the circle in crystal stickles and the blue polka dots with liquid pearls baby blue.  That's it!  I could make a 100 of these and give them away as stationery!

Eggs Here are more samples of our make and take from Friday, thanks everyone for coming in during your lunch break.  We had a nice showing and had a lot of fun making these.  This is one side of the mini baskets.

Egg2 and this is the other side.

We have more than 100 different styles of 6 X 6 papers to choose from at the store.  The best thing.. they are all cardstock and double sided!  All images and sentiments by A muse.  Grass stamp on the far left is by Savvy stamps.

Cootie And finally.. here's our fun make and take for Tuesday  11:30am-1:30pm.  It's the old cootie catcher.  You can put candies inside and decorate the outside with cute spring and easter images.  I got the idea from one of the talented A Muse art designers here
