Friday, December 11th -- Winter in Asia card class

Please join us on Friday, December 11th for our last asian card class of the year!  We're offering this class at 10am-12pm and 6pm-8pm cost:  $35

here are some of the cards we'll be making.

This first card is one of my favorite stamps by Memory Box.  I used just the tips of the flowers and went around the card for a nice border.  I then colored in the blossoms a deep holiday red and made the bird a robin's egg blue color.  I added gold to make it more christmas-like.

This next card is made with wintery cherry blossoms and a lantern shining in the winter night.  Stamps by judikins and A Muse.

this next card is a new line of asian winter dolls by hero arts.  i used a muse art stamps bamboo for the background and cut her the doll our to make her standing in the background.

 

 this last card is made wtih cherry blossoms by impress.  I used twinkle embossing powders by judikins and made them wintery colors.  It's a fun card to make because it's all glittered and blinged with my favorite winter colors!  So crisp!  Hope you can join us! 
   

Tuesday make and take

It's almost Christmas!  have you started all of your handmade gifts?  i barely got my christmas photo cards done!  Anyway.. here's a great gift for anyone who likes hot cocoa.  I do all of the craft projects for my son's classroom and here's what we'll make at his christmas class party.  Come to our boutique on Tuesday, December 1st and we'll give you all the ingredients to make one of these chocolatie delights.

the top of the hot cocoa packet is the extra giga oval scallop punch.  i got the chocolate peppermint stick in a box of like 50 for 4 bucks at walmart.

Gingerbread house invitation

I always thought it would be fun to have a gingerbread house making party.  So i bought 7 houses a few weeks ago and invited my husband's brother's three children and my girlfriend's three children to come over and make some fun edible houses.  This is the invitation i came up with.

the apron is made from my die cut machine.  if you purchase paper at our boutique you are welcome to use the machine for free!  All stamps by A muse art stamps.  

Punch Art Fun

This little doll was designed by my husband ken.  We took a 2.5 X 5 inch paper and scored it into a triangle using Linda from A Muse art stamps idea www.amusenews.typepad.com

when she used the box last year.  We then took punches to make this little kokeishi doll face.  This will be used for our fall in asia class this friday from 10am-12pm or 6pm-8pm.  hope you can join us!  the little girl's face is mirrored after missy ballance's fun punch faces.  www.missyballance.com

Friday, November 27th  11:30am-1:30pm receive 10% off the store.  Last year we made Mr. Claus out of cardstock and hershey bars.  This year, you can make Mrs. Claus.

Fall in Asia cards

Please join us on Friday, November 27th from 10am-12pm or 6pm-8pm for another fun asian cardmaking class.  Here are some of the cards we will be making.

the fist card is made with cherry blossoms and florishes.  i used fall colors to bring out an asian flair.  stamps by A Muse, Rubber soul and rubber moon

this nedxt card is another florish idea using cherry blossoms.  Stamp by Impress and Kodomo inc.  I love the eggplant color with the gold.

this next card is one of my favorites.. especially because it's using my favorite set of stamps by Kodomo.  before kodomo closed it doors for good here in northern california.. i purchased several of the boxed leaf sets.  there are two sets.  this is the first one.

this is the second set.  these are both must haves and we are stocked up with them.  dont you just love these leaves?  the designer used real leaves so you can see the vein lines.

this last card is a kimono card that can open up into an invitation.  laurie brought a template of a small one and she blew it up to fit into an a2 card.  so clever!  Stamps by impress, kimono ribbon by kodomo.  please call the store at 916 487 2737 if you are interested in the class!  also.. we have our winter newsletter online now a

in this class you will create 6 handmade goody projects.

this is a sour cream holder made with a 5.5 X 6 inche piece of cardstock and at the ends sealed with a crimper.  you can put candy inside or even a gift card.

on the side of the holder a fun santa gift tag.

candy canes always taste better this time of the year.. why not make some for your co workers, friends and classmates!

it's always fun to have two different designs.

this one is fun snowman box with ear muffs.

Thank you Stephanie Scheetz!

We had a wonderful weekend with Stephanie Scheetz, designer and instructor for Kodomo Inc. rubber stamps and products.  It was a bittersweet weekend for Stephanie and everyone who took the classes because Kodomo Inc has closed it's doors -- once again.. a victim of this horrible economy.  For the Paper Garden, it's a big loss, we have an asian class each month and use their stamps in several cardmaking projects... in fact, our asian section is filled with Kodomo stamps and card samples.  What a sad closure for everyone.  We will see Stephanie in the future... even though Kodomo is gone, she will continue to teach classes and we will let you know when she returns to Sacramento!  Thanks again Stephanie for your wonderful classes and inspiration and Kodomo for developing a beautiful product!
