Make and Take--Monday and Tuesday

Please join us for a special memorial day make and take.. if you can't make it on Monday, May 31st --we'll repeat the make and take on Tuesday, June 1st  11:30am-1:30pm

This make and take is a fun purse that uses the oval pink scallop marvy punch.  inside is a lifesaver!  the tag punch is by martha stewart and the sentiment is by a muse.  Please join us this Monday and Tuesday and you will learn how to make one of the these fun gifts.  It's a great gift to give when you want to call someone your "lifesaver"-- co workers, teachers, friends.. they will love it!

for a special invitation class.  Invites set the tone to your party or gathering and these are sure to make your invited guests eager to come on over for the festivities!

This next invitation was supposed to be miles' hubble space invite.. but at the last minute the theatre told us it would be shrek.. anyway.. this is what my husband came up with!

This is a fun lady bug invite that will fit into a 5.5 X 5.5 square envelopes.  we have die cuts for the lady bug and also the inside of the invite is scalloped.. so this is also a die cut.. so easy!!!

Make and Take --Friday and Saturday, May 28th and May 29th

Please join us for another fun make and take.  this one is one of my favorites.. that i want to share it with our customers who won't be able to make it on friday betwee 11:30am-1:30pm... so come by this saturday 11:30-1:30pm and make one.  We have this new decorative tape at the store and it's perfect for making cards.. but i just love this!

These are perforated note pads that i got at staples awhile back.. but it's even cheaper if you go to sam's club and buy them in bulk.  i think they end up costing around 40-cents each.  the pens are pentel rsvp.. i got these in a pack at office max -- 12 for 7.50.  I took the tape and put it on plain white cardstock and then cut it and double stick taped it onto the top of the notepad.  I then took the same tape and put it on typing paper and cut it at 3.75" and rolled it and stuck it in the pen.  So cool!  wouldn't these be a great girlfriend gift or a nice stationery gift to give to the teachers and staff at the end of the school year!  Please join us on friday or saturday and you can make one of these too!! hope to see you soon! 

 

Miles' Shrektacular Birthday party

On Saturday, my son Miles had his birthday party at the Imax theatre.  We initially had a hubble in 3d movie party at the imax... and at the last minute.. the theatre changed the movie to shrek!!!!  i had a whole rocket ship theme going.. even our invite which i will show you later this week was a very very cool rocket invite that my husband ken created!!  So .. such is life.. and we switch our plans to see Shrek in 3d.

My mom catered the party with her delicious chicken and macaroni salad and fruit.

and my auntie naomi made finger jell-o in shrek colors.

everything was delicious.

  
we also had a shrek candy bar.  I got all of the nostalgic old fashioned candies from when i was young... and made up shrek names for the candy labels.

i used an old fashioned story book font and made miles his own blend of chocolate.  The chocolate bars are from Trader joe's.. if you just peel off the top wrapper.. the second layer is foil.. so you can use whatever cardstock you want to cover the candy.  the punch is a new "real estate" punch by EK success.  I love this punch, you will see it many times over in our card samples. 

there were several varieties of candy -- this one is tootise rolls in green apple.  i called them leeches on a log.

everyone seemed to have a good time.  When the movie started.. each child was given a small popcorn, drink and more candy!

No one really had any room for fruit basket cake from Freeport bakery!  of course.. i had a piece!

Miles' Shrektacular party ended in singing happy birthday.. and of course...

blowing out all 5 candles!!  Happy birthday miles.. mommy and daddy love you!  

  

 

 

Butterfly Card class

Please join us for our first butterfly inspired card making class!  i just love butterflys.. and we have so many new designs!  The classes are:

Here are the cards we'll be making:

This first card i used the new butterfly images by A Muse and also the new washi tape!  It's on the bottom of this card.  I have been using washi tape a lot on my cards..it's so fun and easy and a great way to embellish your cards.

This next card i used stamps by savvy, a muse and memory box and stamped them randomly in spring like colors.

This is a new monarch butterfly stamp image by memorybox.  i had to download and print off a monarch butterfly to see the true colors.  I then took a piece of red cardstock and stamped inspire and cut it out and then used a small butterfly by a muse and stamped it on the side of the card to bring out the oranges and reds.

This next card is did a big flock of butterflys in a tree.  all white!

For this card is used a dandelion stamp by judikins and stamped a circle inside to bring out color and stamped a background butterfly.

And this last card.. i again.. used washi tape for the bottom of the card.  i stamped this beautiful floral butterfly by hero arts randomly and colored in all of the pretty flowers.  the two floral background stamps are by impression obsession.  love those flower stamps.. they are my fav!!!  we just got them back in stock today!  hope you can join us on saturday or monday.  please call the store if you're interested!  916 487 2737

Asian card class Saturday, May 15th and Monday, May 17th

Here are some of the cards we'll be making. 

This set is called bamboo lake from kodomo.  WE have a limited supply of kodomo stamps and this is one set we have!  In october, kodomo closed it doors in the u-s and boy are we missing all their beautiful stamps, before they closed, i bought heavy on some of my favorites so we have them in stock. this particular one also comes with the chop and asian background writing.  the little kokeishi doll is by hanko designs.

This next card also uses many small stamps by kodomo.  the kanji stamps are by hero arts.  I stamped a rectangle background in soft blue and grey colors and then stamps random asian designs.  i recently goto into "washi" decorative tape and can't seem to get enough of this.  the tape feels so neat.. like paper with a sticky film.  you can heat set it and it won't melt and you can pull it off the cardstock if you mess up and it won't hurt your paper or design.  it's very cool!  we have several colors because my motto is always buy it all if you like it! hahahahaha.  please call the store if you would like to take this class.  there are 4 more cards that i still need to create.  yes.. burning the midnight oil!   

Happy Birdie To You! Friday, May 14th

We have another bird inspired card making class this friday, May 14th from 10am-12pm and 6pm-8pm cost:  $35

Here are the cards we will be making!

This new leaf stamp and sentiment is by a muse.  I stamped the leaf randomly in chocolate brilliance ink and it dries sooooooo nice on the stardream or shimmer papers.  you have to wait for it to dry, but boy does it set up beautifully!!!  i love the chocolate ink pad.   one of my favorites.  the humming bird is by memory box and the small bird is by a muse.

For this card is need some old music sheets and i didn't have any available so i just took kraft cardstock and printed out some piano sheets on the internnet and roughed it up.  the bird and cage is all in one stamp by memory box.  the cage is on the wood mount and the bird is on the top of the wood mount!  the fun notes with hearts are also by memory box and the sentiment is by a muse.

this next card is a fun swirl background stamp by b line designs.  i also used their 4 cube bird stamp and used different tones of reds for the birds.

this next card is a beautiful peacock stamp.  i first embossed it in gold and then colored it in with copics and then i sent over the entire bird with a glue pen and sprinkled prisma glitter and then..i used stickles.. it's a long process.. but the end result is this beautiful card!  stamp by impression obsession.

this next card is a clear stitch set by a muse.  i took the two birds and randomly stamped them and colored them in.. after.. i gave them "chicken pox" and dotted them randomly.

I like this last card because it's so simple.  i used a bird set by hero arts and randomly stamped this beautiful cabbage flower by impress.  sentiment is by a muse.  Please call the store if you could join us this Friday!  916 487 2737

  
 

Cupcakes!

We recently had a cupcake card inspired class at our store..  here are some of the cards we made!  i have been under the weather lately with a cold and horrible allergies, i forgot to post these!  enjoy!

This first card is inpired by my friend kathy kilbane who loves "ribbon" scraps and paper scraps she calls "jewels" -- i used some of my ribbon scraps to put them around the scallop circle.  Kathy made me a card a few years back just like this to show me why she keeps even the smallest piece of ribbon.  these new cupcake stamps are by the peddler's pack. 

 this next card makes me think of shopping and fun!  there are shoes and cupcakes all shaped into a heart!  stamps by impression obsession and a muse.

This next card is a fun cupcake stamp by hampton art.  i stamped it three times using some paper scraps and the sentiment is by savvy stamps.'

Teacher appreciation week

My girlfriend and customer luanne hansen is so talented at making cards, books and anything to do with baking.. i asked her to make my cousin and i some cookies for teacher appreciation week.  she did.. and as always.. luanne comes out with the best designs!  last year, she made me cookies shaped like an apple.. this year, she made these cute school houses!

She even put my cousin's children's school didion on her cookies and carden school for my son's teachers!   I bagged them and made these tags.  so cute!  I can't wait to give them to the teachers.  they will love them!  Luanne is also making my son's cookies for his birthday party.. tba!!!

the polka dot tape is called "washi tape"-- it's super fun to place on notecards and presents and envelopes.  if you place it down wrong.. you can just peel it off and start over!  it's very very cool. nothing like it!  we have about 20 different varieties of this tape and you get 13 yards of it on the roll... cheaper than ribbon and you don't have to tie a knot!  The notepad is made from a 3.5 X 5 notepad.. you get 12 of them for 3 or 4 bucks at office depot and i put cardstock on top of it.   Don't you just love this new a muse cloud cardstock.  the kite and bird are by memory box and the sentiment by a muse.  hope to see you this saturday!
